Bev Van Berkom's richly layered work feels best when expressed in acrylic or
oil. After she moved to Arizona, her paintings quickly became infused with the
rich, sun-filled colors and images of the Sonoran desert. She's been an artist
most of her life and inspiration for her work comes from her surroundings as
well as from within. Her intent now is to create paintings that exhilarate the
spirit of the people who see them, and let them know it's good to be alive,
no matter what happens.
Van Berkom's work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout
the United States and Europe. Gallery and other exhibitions include Dolly Fitterman
Gallery, Minneapolis, Minnesota; Agnisiuh Gallery, Sedona, Arizona; C.G. Rein
Gallery, Minneapolis, Minnesota; Naked Horse Galleries, Scottsdale, Arizona;
Landmark Gallery, Bodega, California; Minneapolis Institute of Art, Minneapolis,
Minnesota; American Scandinavian Foundation, New York City, New York; Copenhagen
Art Center, Copenhagen, Denmark. Her work is also in corporate and private collections
worldwide.
Born in North Dakota, Van Berkom lived in several different locations, happily
settling in Arizona in the early 1990s.
